Jackie Probst

Han~
I am Jackie Prescott-Probst and I greet you with a warm heart and a gentle handshake. As a citizen of the Lower Sioux Indian Community and graduate of MSU - Mankato with a B.S. in American Indigenous Studies & History Minor, I am honored to have been supporting our Native youth since January 2005.  I strive to positively advocate for our American Indian students by supporting their mental, emotional, physical and social well being which is strongly connected to their academic state. The focus of our department is that by collaborating with students, parents, staff and the community we will achieve our goal of increasing the number of our Native American graduates. I have enjoyed building lasting relationships with our students which have been a part of our program while offering them additional experiences to prepare them for their future as the leaders in our community. Giving their time volunteering during service learning projects as well as mentoring activities are ways in which they are asked to enrich our communities as well as themselves. Exploring Minnesota college campuses, attending productions at the Guthrie & Chanhassen Dinner Theater and exposing them to inspirational Native speakers such as Billy Mills, Frank Waln, Gary Davis, Sean Sherman & Commander John B. Herrington are additional opportunities the program offers. Although these experiences are rewarding, their personal daily achievements such as "acing" a Chemistry test, completing a research paper and presenting their first speech are what inspire me most.  Simply being a part of their high school career and witnessing this phase of their life while assisting them to prepare for the next is extremely fulfilling. Although we are here to advocate and support the students academically, I am also personally humbled to have the opportunity to connect with them on such an unique level.

During my down time I am fortunate to be surrounded by my supportive family including my husband Joe & children Jaidyn & Justus along with my parents and sisters. We enjoy traveling and spending quiet time at the lake and I am always open to book suggestions!
