My name is Becky Cselovszki and I am the Superintendent of Schools for the Redwood Area School District. I started this position in July 2020 and what a year to start a new position it was. The staff at RASD are amazing. They worked relentlessly to make the best of the situation. This team effort benefited our students in a really difficult year.
Despite the numerous obstacles resulting from the pandemic, Redwood Area School District is back on track for a great start to the 2021-2022 school year. This summer was busy with filling in gaps from the previous year. The district was able to offer summer educational opportunities, educational field trips, and normal summer activities.
COVID is not gone, but we have learned some great things to keep our students healthy while keeping them in school and in front of our teachers. New air ventilation, permanent wall hand sanitizers, respect for one’s personal space, and general cleanliness are all things that we have added and will continue to use.
As we look ahead, we are excited for the return of all of our students. There is so much excitement in the air. It is so great to see students and parents ready for a great year.
One of my projects this year will be to inform the public on the status of our Reede Gray elementary school. The Board of Education will be reviewing a feasibility study in August and then pursuing options on how to solve the issues that the building presents. The Board of Education strives to provide the best learning environment for all of our students. This is why they have asked me to focus my attention on the Reede Gray building as well as safety and security items in the RVMS/HS. It will be an exciting process and I hope that the community in combination with the district will find the solutions to give our students a great learning environment now and into the future.
I look forward to the school year and look forward to meeting each of you.
